The FREE service applies from 3.30 pm to 5.30pm from Clay Bank. All our rooms have comfy beds and ensuite facilities, exactly what you need after a hard days walking!

The next morning we will return you back to the walking route filled with a hearty Yorkshire Breakfast of course! We can also provide you with packed lunches for the day.
Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Walk
We are the closest Inn to the Coast to Coast route in our area. Just 2.5miles from Clay Bank Top. We offer a complimentary pick up service from 3.30 pm to 5.30pm.
Alfred Wainwright’s 192 mile, Coast to Coast Walk is enjoyed by thousands of walkers each year and many of those choose the Buck Inn, Chop Gate for the penultimate night’s accommodation.
Conveniently situated below Clay Bank we are just two days walk from the final destination at Robin Hood’s Bay.
We offer special arrangements for coast to coasters including a complimentary pick up at Clay Bank up to our warm, cosy inn. A hearty breakfast the next day will set you on your way and we can provide you with a packed lunch before returning you back onto the route.
Many of our guests return each year to enjoy our walking short breaks where we provide maps, compasses and packed lunches and you enjoy a ramble through the moors.
Aside from the B1257 there’s Raisedale Road, which leads north-west, eventually to Carlton Bank. Theres also a bridleway heading off roughly north west called Cold Moor Lane, which leads up onto Cold Moor and beyond (but better ridden as a descent). There are a couple of other bridleways if you head north up the road a little. Both lead east onto Urra Moor, one at Medd Crag and one via East Bank Plantation.

If you’re not familiar with the area then do not worry as our guests are free to use the ordinate survey maps that we provide. We also welcome our restaurant guests to use our maps if they are planning on spending the day in the area.
